October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While October focuses on Breast Cancer we support everyone who is fighting this terrible disease. We can offer support to those who are going through chemotherapy and radiation. There are measures we can take to make sure your mouth stays healthy during the process and recovery. Here are some suggestions:
* One of the greatest risks during treatment is infection. Create consistent and quality habits with your oral health. Visit and communicate your journey with your dentist often to decrease the risk of a cavtiy or gingivitis in your mouth.
* Make sure that your body stays hydrated by drinking lots of water. Even when nauseated, try sucking on ice chips. But keep track of your water intake and make sure you stay on top of it.
*There will be days when you are too sensitive to eat. Sores in the mouth and on the tongue can cause serious pain. Try to keep soft and cool foods on hand.
We support and celebrate those who have fought, are fighting or have fought cancer. #breastcancerawarenessmonth
